Two Doors Down and Scot Squad lead Scottish Comedy Awards

BBC Scotland sitcoms Two Doors Down and Scot Squad lead the nominations for this year’s Scottish Comedy Awards.

Both are nominated for Best TV Show, while Two Doors Down has two nominations in the Best Actor category – for Elaine C Smith and Doon Mackichan, and ScotSquad has three nominations; Jack Doherty, Jim Smith and Chris Forbes.

The writers of Two Doors Down, Gregor Sharp and Simon Carlyle, also receive a nomination.

Last year’s TV Show winner, Still Game, did not air a series last year.

America’s Got Talent semi-finalist Colin Cloud receives two nominations for Best Tour Show and Best Variety act, a category that also includes Donald Trump impersonator Lewis Macleod.

Online comedy star Isla Nelson was the big winner last year, when she was aged just three. This year her dad Mark Nelson is again nominated in the Best Headliner category alongside Raymond Mearns, Susie McCabe and Scott Agnew.

Winners will be announced at the start of the Edinburgh Fringe, with voting – by those working in the Scottish comedy industry – opening soon.
