Romesh Ranganathan's hip-hop podcast up for award

Frank Skinner, Romesh Ranganathan and Andy Hamilton have been shortlisted for this year’s Broadcasting Press Guild Awards.

Skinner is up for radio broadcaster of the year for his Absolute Radio show against Hamilton for his Radio 4 monologues Andy Hamilton Sort Of Remembers.

Also nominated in this category are A. Dot (aka Dotty), who presents the 1Xtra Breakfast Show, and Emma Barnett, for her Radio 5 Live show and Woman’s Hour on Radio 4.

The winner will follow in the footsteps of such previous winners as Alistair Cook, Sir Terry Wogan and Brian Redhead.

Meanwhile, Ranganathan is up for the first BPG podcast of the year award for his Hip Hop Saved My Life show.

He’s up against Ed Miliband and Geoff Lloyd’s Reasons To Be Cheerful; the Brexit podcast Remainiacs; and The Butterfly Effect with Jon Ronson.

Also announced were the nominees for the radio programme of the year: Hilary Mantel’s The Reith Lectures on Radio 4; Living with the Gods with Neil MacGregor also on Radio 4;  Saturday Night At The Movies with Andrew Collins on Classic FM; and Steve Lamacq on 6 Music.

Winners will be announced on March 16.
