Audience up on slot average

Just over a million viewers watched The League Of Gentlemen return to TV after a 15-year absence  last night.

The 1.1.million audience beats the 885,000 which the 10pm BBC Two slot  gets on average, and is slightly up on the last series of  Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s Inside No 9, which won 929,000 in February.

The comeback was praised by critics, with The i saying the new episodes ‘remind us just how deliciously down-at-heel and thought-provoking comedy can be’, The Telegraph said the show was  ‘in a league of its own’ and The Times called it a ‘blessedly undisappointing comeback’.
