Kathy Griffin faints on stage

Drama in Dublin

Kathy Griffin fainted on stage in Dublin last night.

More than two hours into her show at Vicar Street, the 57-year-old slumped into the microphone and said: ‘Randy, I’m going down’

Her boyfriend Randy Bick, 39, rushed on on stage and grabbed her. As he led her away, she said: ‘I’ll be back.’

The stage remained empty for several minutes until Bick led her back to the microphone,  to the cheers of the crowd. However it was clear the show was over.

She later apologised in a video filmed in the back of a car taking her away from the venue.

In it, Griffin  said: ‘‘I fainted. I’m embarrassed more than anything. I promise to be upright for the entire show next time.’

She added that she only had about five more minutes left to go.

Griffin plays the London Palladium tomorrow and the Edinburgh Assembly Rooms on Saturday.

She was at the centre of controversy earlier this year when she was pictured holding the severed head of Donald Trump. At the time, she apologised following a huge backlash – but she told the BBC yesterday she said she was not sorry and ‘takes back 1,000 per cent’ the apology she made then.
