LONDON: After touring almost every corner of the UK, Stewart Lee settles into a long residency at the Leicester Square Theatre, with too-many-to-count performances of his unassailably smart new show, Content Provider, in the intimate venue from now until February. Maybe they should rename it the Lee-eicester Square Theatre. Or maybe not.

LONDON: In the same theatre after Lee's done, Finnish comic Ismo Leikola, once named The Funniest Person in the World in a competition run by Los Angeles' Laugh Factory comedy club, performs an hour of his imaginative oddball naif shtick, for one night only.

NOTTINGHAM: The city's week-long comedy festival kicks off tonight, with Jimmy Carr, Barbara Nice, Iain Stirling, The Elvis Dead and Jerry Sadowitz among the highlights. Full details.

MANCHESTER: Aptly enough for Halloween week, the Elvis Dead – Rob Kemp's one-man show which sets the Evil Dead 2 to the songs of the King, is playing at the Gorilla. It was the cult hit of the Edinburgh Fringe - come and see why. And you don't have to know the film to enjoy it.

BIRMINGHAM: Stephen K Amos kicks off his latest tour of feel good observation, Bread And Circuses, at the Old Rep theatre tonight. The future schedule is here.
