Final whistle for Play To The Whistle

ITV drops panel show

ITV panel show Play To The Whistle is to end after three series.

The show was hosted by Holly Willoughby with Frank Lampard and Bradley Walsh as team captains. Romesh Ranganathan was a regular panellist and Seann Walsh, the resident scorer

A source told The Sun that the panel show ‘hasn’t performed as they’d hoped so they are resting it for now’.

The last series, which aired this spring, averaged 1.6million viewer on overnight figures with guests including Jimmy Car, Joel Dommett, Kevin Bridges and Rob Beckett.

Availability of the main stars was also cited as a reason for dropping Play To The Whistle.

But it was also reported that it could return for major sporting occasions, such as the football World Cup next year.
