Pushing all the right buttons

New BBC One gameshow from Alex Horne

Comedian Alex Horne has created a new entertainment format for BBC One.

The stand-up is one of the brains behind The Button, a new show which will visit five homes around the country each week and set up a pop-up gameshow in the front rooms. Each family will have to race against the clock to start and complete challenges.

The BBC has ordered eight half-hour episodes from producers Avalon. Kate Phillips, controller of BBC Entertainment said: ‘This new show absolutely pushes all the right buttons for us. It’s a funny, frantic, competitive romp and a great snapshot of family life across the UK.’

Horne previously devised Taskmaster for Dave, based on challenges he set for comedians at the Edinburgh  Fringe. He created The Button with Andy Devonshire, who directed The Great British Bake Off and The Apprentice.

The commission was revealed at the Edinburgh International Television Festival this morning. No presenter has yet been announced.
