Louis CK to release two new stand-up specials

On Netflix

Louis CK has signed a deal to release two new stand-up specials on Netflix.

The first, titled 2017, was filmed in Washington and will launch worldwide on April 4. Details of the other have not yet been released.

Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix, said: ‘Louis has been one of the most innovative comedy voices in this new era of stand-up. He has also been a thought leader in the business of comedy.’

His deal follows the on-demand service signing Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld to make stand-up specials.

CK’s  2015 show  Live at the Comedy Store recently launched on Netflix, having previously been available on his website for $5 – using the independently produced, direct-to-fans model he pioneered.
