Will TV Do The Right Thing?

Hit podcast piloted for telly

Comedy podcast Do The Right Thing could be heading for TV.

A pilot version is being filmed next month, but its creator, Danielle Ward, is to be replaced by a ‘big-name host’ who has yet to be named. Instead she will be a panellist.

She said: ‘The host is great. Honest. None of us are famous enough to launch a show. I’ll be doing something else.’

Regular captains Margaret Cabourn-Smith and Michael Legge will be taking part in the run-through.

The format asks the teams what they would do in real-life situations, from survival tips such as being attacked by wolves to taking a bullet, through to agony aunt-style relationship advice and trying to guess how an expert such as a butler or police officer would handle a dilemma in their job.

Do The Right Thing piloted in 2011 and has run for six series as a podcast, all available here, with guests including Al MurraySarah Millican, Dave Gorman and Jason Manford.

When Taskmaster and Go 8 Bit have moved from live shows to the Dave TV channel, they drafted in Greg Davies and Dara O Briain as hosts, but kept respective originators Alex Horne and Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon on as a sidekick and team captains.

A run-through of Do The Right Thing is being filmed in front of a live audience in London next month, but it is not yet known if a broadcaster is attached.

The taping is at the Hospital Club in Covent Garden on November 9. Click here for free tickets.
