...promising 'controlled mayhem'

Russell Kane is to host a weekly show on the soon-to-be relaunched Virgin Radio.

He will co-present a Saturday morning show with Angela Scanlon, also recently announced as Dara O Briain’s co-host on the rebooted Robot Wars.

Kane said: ‘I’m buzzing like a bee on a Berocca to be involved with Virgin Radio. Angela and I can’t wait to get stuck into our weekend show; we plan on bringing a bit of controlled mayhem to music radio on a Saturday mornings. Also - I hope to bag loads of cheap Virgin flights and stuff like that. Love you, Dicky Branson!’

His show is from 10am to 1pm each Saturday.

Double act Johnny and Inel, the comics best known for their work on CBBC, will also be hosting a four-hour Friday night show from 7pm.

And as previously announced, comic Matt Richardson will be hosting the 4pm to 7pm drivetime show daily, once the channel launches on digital radio next Wednesday.

Liam Thompson, programme director for Virgin Radio, said:’Russell and Angela will bring energy and intelligence to Saturday mornings, while Johnny and Inel are really going to engage people with their unique style. Every presenter is absolutely passionate about music – this is going to be high-octane radio at its very best.’
