Who's in the Are You Being Served reboot?

Cast revealed

The cast has been revealed for the revival of Are You Being Served?

John Challis, best known as Boycie from Only Fools And Horses, will play department manager Captain Peacock, and stand-up Arthur Smith is caretaker Mr Harman.

Roy Barraclough plays Mr Grainger and Niky Wardley, who was Lauren Cooper's best friend Lisa Jackson in the Catherine Tate Show, plays Miss Brahms.

Jason Watkins, from W1A and Trollied, will play Mr Humphries, the role made famous by John Inman.

The one-off episode has been written by Benidorm creator Derren Litten, and will also star Sherrie Hewson from the Spanish-based sitcom as Mrs Slocombe

The new episode will be set in 1988, three years after the original series ends. In it Young Mr Grace, to be played by Mathew Horne, will attempt to drag Grace Brothers into the Eighties, but faces resistance from the staff.

New characters Miss Croft, named in honour of co-creator David Croft, will be played by Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter and Mr Conway by newcomer Kayode Ewumi.

Shane Allen, who commissioned the show, said: 'The Are you Being Served? special is a riot of a script from Derren and has attracted a real comedy pedigree cast to pay homage to this glorious and much-loved show.’

The reboot will be recorded on March 5, and air on BBC One later this year as part of a Landmark Sitcom season, celebrating 60 years of the genre.

Are You Being Served? originally ran for 69 episodes over ten series from 1972 to 1985 on BBC One and made stars of the likes of Mollie Sudden and Wendy Richard.

Casting news is confirmed on the day that ITV confirmed a ninth series of Litten’s Benidorm.
