Gig brawl over woman's loud laugh

Police called to Jeremy Hardy show

Police were called to a comedy gig after two women started brawling – in a dispute over whether one was laughing too loudly.

Both punters were ejected from Jeremy Hardy’s show at the Brewhouse arts centre in Burton, Staffordshire, but neither chose to press charges.

The fracas reportedly broke out after one of the punters complained that her neighbour’s reaction was over-enthusiastic.

Hardy told the local Burton Mail that it was a ‘full-on, physical fight’, with the interval extended to deal with the fracas.

And after the gig, he tweeted: ‘Thanks to all the good people of Burton who abstained from attacking other members of the audience.’

’Some comics think they're edgy, but a woman in Burton punched another for laughing so loudly she couldn't hear.’
