Cooper fan's bid to crack most gags in a minute

A Tommy Cooper impersonator is aiming to break the record for the most jokes told in a minute tonight.

Clive Greenaway hopes to crack 28 gags, beating the 21 set by German comedian Markus Weise in August 2012.

He said: ‘It’d be super to beat the Germans at something. I’m ever so delighted that I’ve come up with this plan. You know what they say about German humour, we need to get this record off them.’

He will be going for the record at Weymouth Pavilion during his show The Magic and Mirth of Tommy Cooper – with his efforts filmed and documented to satisfy Guinness World Records.

Greenaway, from Poole, told the Dorset Echo: ‘I think I can do it. I have to do very fast delivery lines at the speed of a machine gun.’
