Jupp's kitchen comedy could head to TV

Pilot adapted from his Radio 4 show

Miles Jupp’s Radio 4 comedy In And Out Of The Kitchen is being adapted for television.

A pilot has recently been shot and BBC executives are now deciding whether it should be picked up for a full series.

They have no particular channel in mind yet, a corporation press officer told Chortle.

The pilot, which was made by the BBC’s in-house comedy team, also featured comics Justin Edwards and Brendan Dempsey, plus actors Selina Cadell, Philip Fox and Ade Oyefeso.

Two series have been made for Radio 4, which aired in late 2011 and early this year. In the show Jupp – who also wrote the script – plays a gay cookery writer, Damien Trench, who details his daily life through a mix of narrative, dialogue and recipes.

It was praised by critics, with the Daily Telegraph calling it ‘irresistible’; the Independent on Sunday saying it was ‘a beautifully written delight’ and The Stage finding it ‘delicious’.

Jupp’s agent confirmed that a pilot had been shot, but that there was no word on whether it would be transmitted, or picked up for a series.

Jupp is already a familiar face to TV viewers, having regularly appeared in Rev, The Thick Of It, Spy and Gary: Tank Commander.
