Russell Brand's US show to go out live

American TV executives are about to play with fire – by airing Russell Brand’s talk show live.

The second series of Brand X starts on cable channel FX next Thursday, expanding to an hour-long format.

But their biggest risk might be the decision to broadcast live, since even a pre-recorded spontaneous prank by Brand brought such scandal to the BBC, which had repercussions across the whole organisation.

His new series will air at 11.30pm, after fellow stand-up W. Kamau Bell’s series Totally Biased. But after three weeks, the show will move to 11pm. In all, 13 episodes have been ordered.

The first series, last summer, aired on Sky Atlantic in the UK, but the second series is not currently in its schedules.
