Not Going Out to tour?

Lee Mack in talks

Lee Mack could be about to put Not Going Out on to the stage.

He reckons his BBC One sitcom could easily be translated for the theatre – and has entered talks about taking it on the road.

And he has ambitions to turn it into a film, too.

‘We are very much talking about doing a live version of it,’ he told reporters at the British Comedy Awards. ‘It’s just time and trying to juggle everything. I’m hoping to do something in the next two years.’

He added: ‘I think it would work as a film. It’s just pacing it differently and again, time. You can’t write a movie of Not Going Out and tour it live and do a stand-up tour and have three kids. So I might have to get rid of the kids.’

The show returns for a sixth series next year – but without Tim Vine.
