Fast Show to return

New online series for Foster's

The Fast Show team are to reunite – including Caroline Aherne – to make the first new episodes in 14 years.

They are to make a new series of online shorts for Foster’s lager – which has previously funded similar films from Alan Partridge and Vic and Bob as part of its sponsorship of comedy.

The only cast member to be missing from the new episodes – which will be broadcast from November – is Mark Williams.

Charlie Higson, who created the show with Paul Whitehouse, broke the news on Twitter.

He posted: ‘A lot of you have been asking when we will be bringing the Fast Show back, and if so, when. The answer is "yes... on November 14th."

‘We will have all the old team back together, including Caroline, but sadly notMmark Williams. All the popular characters (to clarify... when I say “all the popular characters” I mean all those not played by Mark Williams obviously)

Bt he added: ‘We will not be doing any new characters on the new #thefastshow project - not yet anyway. We decided to stick to old favourites.’

Simon Day confirmed the revival was for Foster’s on his Twitter feed, saying that he would be reviving his characters Dave Angel, Billy Bleach, Competitive Dad, and adding that he was looking forward to seeing Whitehouse’s Ron Manager again.

He added: ‘It has all been hush hush. Paul and Charlie will be bossing us about as usual, and I will still be funny, but fat and balder.’

The original BBC show ran from 1994 to 1997. They staged a farewell live tour in 2002, and most of the cast reunited for a one-off stage show to launch a DVD collection in 2007.

Foster's marketing manager Gayle Harrison said: 'We’re excited by our collaboration with the Fast Show team and we look forward to sharing more great new comedy via the fostersfunny website.'
