The 'idiot' is back...

Pilkington to go back on his travels

Reluctant traveler Karl Pilkington is to make a second series of An Idiot Abroad.

The first series, which was Sky’s highest rated show of the last two years, went on to air in 35 countries.

The new series, titled An Idiot Abroad 2: The Bucket List, will concentrate on experiences to have before you die. But Pilkington said: ‘I’ve never understood the “things to do before you die” idea. If I was ill, I'd be in no mood to have a swim with a dolphin.’

Filming will start next month and air on Sky in the autumn. It will be made by RiSK Productions; a new company set up by Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Pilkington himself.

Gervais said: ‘It was hard work getting Karl to agree to another torture session… I mean series.

‘It was time to give him a piece of the pie. It will most probably end up in his face. Most people think that RiSK is a combination of our initials. It's also because there is a small chance that Karl could die.’

Meanwhile, all three will return to E4 and Channel 4 next month, with a second series of HBO's animated Ricky Gervais Show.
