Altitude slopes off to a new resort

Alpine festival moves to Austria

The ski and snowboard-based Altitude Comedy Festival is moving to a new resort this year.

The Alpine festival, previously held in Meribel, France, is moving to the Austrian town of Mayrhofen to become part of the Volvo-sponsored Snowbombing festival of winter sports and music.

Curated by Andrew Maxwell, the festival will take place over three nights – April 6 to 9 – in the resort’s new Europahaus venue.

Snowbombing director Gareth Cooper said: ‘This is a great step forward for Snowbombing and we are going to make sure that these comedy nights have more than a touch of the Snowbombing randomness. Don’t expect straightforward stand up, get ready for the utterly ridiculous.’

The Snowbombing festival also features bands and DJs including The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, and Professor Green. The comedy line-up has yet to be announced, but previous Altitude festivals have featured the likes of Al Murray, Phill Jupitus, Jenny Éclair, Lee Mack, Omid Djalili and Rich Hall.
