Conchords last flight?

Clement signals end of HBO series

Flight of the Conchords may not return for a third series, star Jemaine Clement has said.

The comic says the hit HBO show requires too much work, so might have to come back in truncated form.

He said: ‘We've got to write the series, but we've also got to write the songs, and just dividing your time into those two writing tasks is really tricky. It could come back in a shorter season or like a special.

Clement said he would discuss the future of the show with co-star Bret McKenzie and director James Bobin before making a decision before the end of the month.

It is not the first time the band, whose new album I Told You I Was Freaky was released on Monday, have spoken about bringing the show to an end. They told Q magazine in August that the second series would probably be the last

Clement has also just broken into films, starring as an egotistical sci-fi writer in the movie Gentlemen Broncos, released in America this week.

HBO spokeswoman Nancy Lesser added: ‘We've left their future entirely in their hands. We would love to have more."’
