Kath & Kim poised to return
Australian sitcom Kath & Kim could be returning for a fifth series after a break of more than two years.
Co-creator Gina Riley says she is ‘desperate’ to get back into writing the hit comedy, which aired on BBC Two in Britain.
But she said the next series could focus more on Prue and Trude, the prissy shop assistants who have recurring cameos in the programme.
She told Melbourne’s Herald Sun newspaper: ‘I’m really missing the writing and desperate to really get back into it.
‘But after the fourth series we all felt burnt out, as you do, as it takes about a year-and-a-half to get it all done.
‘We just wanted to have a break. It’s been really good for us because then you come back fresh and raring to go.’
Producer Rick McKenna has previously said that Prue and Trude could appear in a spoof travel series, showing how to deal with the recession
Meanwhile, Magda Szubanski, who plays Sharon in the sitcom, has lost 5st 9lb and dropped six dress sizes.
Now 13st 5lb and size 14, she posed on the cover of Australian Women's Weekly and said: ‘I feel like I've climbed Mount Everest. I can honestly say, I can't remember a time in my life when I felt better.’
