Official: Gavin & Stacey to return

Writers confirm series 3

Gavin and Stacey is definitely returning for a third series, co-writers James Corden and Ruth Jones have announced.

The pair revealed the news live on stage in Barry Island, where Jones was hosting her weekly BBC Radio Wales show.

Previously she had indicated that the Christmas Eve special may be the end of the series, as she didn’t want it to become ‘boring and recycled’.

Corden, who plays Smithy in the series, said they hoped they would not let the audience down.

Their announcement was greeted with loud cheers from the crowd of around 1,000, some of whom were carrying signs reading: ‘Third series please’.

According to the News Of The World, the four main stars – Corden, Jones, Mat Horne and Joanna Page – are expected to get a 20 per cent pay rise for series three.

The show started life on BBC Three, but became a mainstream hit when it transferred to BBC One.
