Pegg's no Bastard

Simon drops out of Tarantino movie

Simon Pegg has dropped out of Quentin Tarantino’s Second World War movie Inglorious Bastards.

The Hot Fuzz star was to have played a British lieutenant in the film, but said he couldn’t find a gap in his schedule for shooting.

On his MySpace blog he wrote: ‘Much to our mutual disappointment, I won't be appearing in QT’s forthcoming Inglorious Bastards due to insurmountable scheduling difficulties.

‘We really tried to make it work but in the end, it just was not possible without severe ramifications elsewhere.’

Inglorious Bastards, which will star Brad Pitt, begins filming in Germany in October.

Among Pegg’s forthcoming projects are Paul, a reunion with Shaun of the Dead co-star Nick Frost in which they play British comic book geeks on a road trip across America.

Pegg also revealed that Superbad director Greg Mottola will also helm this film.
