Curious commission

R4 to make QI spin-off

Radio 4 has commissioned a full series of comedy panel game The Museum of Curiosity, to be hosted by Billy Bailey and QI creator John Lloyd.

The show will share QI’s love of obscure knowledge and researchers from the TV show will even be on hand to help the guests who will include comics and experts.

Recording on the six-part series starts next month.

A BBC spokesman said: ‘The object of the show is for guests to help Bill and John to fill their museum with fascinating exhibits.

‘Each show will add new three exhibits to the Museum, along with a mass of background info and pub-ammo facts delivered by our own QI researchers.’

Lloyd, whose credits as producer include Not the Nine O’Clock News, Spitting Image and Blackadder, recorded a pilot edition back in April with Bailey on the panel, which was provisionally titled The Professor of Curiosities.

Lloyd was chairman of the pilot episode of QI, before giving the permanent job to Stephen Fry.

Free audience tickets to The Museum of Curiosity, which begins recording next month, are available here.
