McAllister on offenders' register

Scottish stand-up Keir McAllister has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after his flirtations with a 16-year-old schoolgirl turned sexual.

The 32-year-old admitted embarking on the affair with a pupil while he was employed as a classroom assistant at a Dundee secondary school.

He escaped with a three-month probation and 190 hours community service at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday. The incident cost him his job with Dundee City Council and his career in education.

McAllister – who was part of the 2005 Fringe show Scotland 4 Australia 1 - admitted kissing the 16-year-old, who then performed oral sex on him, sometime between December 6, 2005, and January 20, 2006.

His lawyer, Susan Burns, said McAllister ‘stupidly allowed himself’ to enjoy the attention from the pupil.

She said: ‘This was not a situation where someone in a position of trust was grooming a young girl, but a situation where they flirted with each other and the feelings were mutual.

‘The girl did not want Mr McAllister to be prosecuted, but he accepts what he did was wrong.’

Sheriff Paul Arthurson told McAllister: ‘What you pleaded guilty to represents a very serious charge and my primary concern in your breach of trust.

‘But you are a first-time offender, the reports are positive, and this offence has changed the course of your life.’

The illicit relationship came to light when fellow pupils became suspicious and reported the pair to school bosse
