Another day, another lawsuit

Borat sued again

Sacha Baron Cohen has been sued over the Borat film once again, according to reports from Israel.

The comic has already been hit by writs from Deep South right-wingers, ‘racist’ frat boys and Romanian villagers over how he portrayed them in the movie.

But now an Israeli comedian is said to be launching a legal case over one of the fictional Kazakh reporter’s more obscure catchphrases.

Dovale Glickman first coined the nonsense phrase ‘wa wa wee wa’ that Borat uses when he’s excited, 16 years ago for the Israeli comedy Zehu Zeh.

The character was such as success that it was also used in TV adverts for the Yellow Pages, and has apparently been adopted by many people in Israel, which may be where Baron Cohen has adopted it from.

Local entertainment news show Good Evening With Guy Pine reported that Glickman planned to sue, but when pressed by the Associated Press news agency, Glickman would neither confirm not deny the report.

Borat has been a hit in Israel, where his seemingly jibberish Kazakh language is recognized as Hebrew.

When Baron Cohen collected a Golden Globe for the film earlier this month, he thanked ‘every American who has not sued me so far’.
