A-ha for Hollywood?

Coogan plans Alan Partridge film

Steve Coogan is planning to take Alan Partridge to the big screen.

The comic, who has increasing currency in Hollywood following roles in Around The World In 80 Days and 24 Hour Party People, is said to be very keen to see his most famous creation transfer to the movies.

He previously said he wanted to retire Partridge for fear of being forever associated with the character, though he did say he could return for specials, such as the recent Comic Relief telethon.

Plans for the film are in their "early stages, but the will is there", a spokeswoman for Coogan's Baby Cow production company told The Guardian.

She added: "It's in the pipeline but we don't have any definite date."

Co-writer Armando Iannucci, who directed the TV series, said he was not involved with plans for a film. He told the paper he feels he’s taken Partridge “as far as he can go”.
