Hancock script makes stage debut

The comics starring in the stage version of the classic film 12 Angry Men at the Edinburgh Fringe are to take on Tony Hancock's spoof version.

Owen O'Neill (pictured) will take on the Hancock role with Stephen Frost as Sid James.

This will be the first time Galton and Simpson's script - featuring the classic line "Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain?" - has been performed on stage since it was aired on BBC TV in 1959.

The rest of the cast will be David Calvitto, Ian Coppinger, Steve Furst, Jeff Green, Russell Hunter, Dave Johns, Phil Nichol, Gavin Robertson and Andy Smart.

The one-off performanceat 6pm next Wednesday will raise money for Zimbabwean orphans of artists.

Tickets, priced £12.50, are on sale from the Assembly Rooms box office on 0131 226 2428.
