Making a song and dance of it

Mason stars in Broadway musical - at 72

Jackie Mason is to return to Broadway - in an all-singing, all-dancing musical.

Despite turning 72 last week, the veteran Jewish comic, will take part in some of the show's big production numbers.

The former rabbi, who is playing three Opera House shows in the UK this month, has performed six stand-up shows on the Great White Way - but this is the first time he has tried anything this ambitious.

The new show Laughing Room Only translates his stand-up observations and translates them into "sexy, hilarious and even nude" sketches, songs and production numbers.

Mason said:" I have enjoyed tremendous success on Broadway as a solo performer, now I want to take that experience and give my audience more.

"This show is sexy, naughty and dirty, but don't worry, it's funny, clean dirt."

The show is split into two parts, the first sees Mason playing himself, trying to produce a Broadway musical on a budget of $19.99. After a song and dance number that has him cast and prepare the show, the audience is then treated to the show itself.

Previews begin at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on October 23, and the show will officially open on November 19, with tickets priced from $65 to $90.
