Kay ticket stampede

3,000 gone in two hours

Peter Kay sold out Manchester's vast MEN Arena in under two hours today.

The comic announced an extra date in his Mum Wants A Bungalow there at 10am, and by midday all the tickets had been snapped up.

It is the first time a comedian has played the venue, which holds 3,000 in the theatre-style seating used.

The gig ends his mammoth, sell-out 180-date tour of the UK.

Kay said: "What a way to end the tour, back at the Manchester Arena where I was working when I very first started doing stand-up.

"I worked as a steward there when it very first opened with Torvill and Dean in 1996 and now I'll be ending the tour there, it'll be a crackin' way to end after 180 nights."
