Big Yin's beauty secret

Billy Connolly, the ex-shipyard welder who says Hollywood success hasn't changed him, has regular manicures and false fingernails.

His surprising beauty regime is revealed in today's Daily Record, after he visited a Glasgow salon to fix one of his nails.

He had a £4 treatment to add a fibreglass nail to his right index finger.

It strengthens his own nail, which he uses to pluck his banjo.

Joann McBride, who manages Glagsow's Nailzone, said:It and is transparent and very natural-looking. He said he gets it done every three to four weeks in America and has regular manicures to keep the rest of his nails neat and tidy."

Although the 59-year-old Big Yin offered to leave £10 for the treatment, she refused to let the comic pay.

She added: "He was a perfect gentleman and a lovely down-to-earth guy."
