Smith's show goes to radio

Arthur Smith Sings Leonard Cohen is transferring to radio.

The stage show, which premiered at last year's Edinburgh Festival before moving to the West End, is to be recorded for Radio 4.

It hit the headlines last year when Smith revealed that a duck needed for a brief appearance was more expensive than hiring a human actor to play the role.

The show, which Smith wrote simply because he thought the title was funny, will be recorded in August.

Aptly for the self-styled 'mayor of Balham', the show is being recorded in the Bedford pub in that south London suburb on August 2.

Free tickets for the show are available from the BBC web site.
