Harry Hill: You've been framed
Proving he’s not just a TV funnyman, a collection of Harry Hill’s surreal artwork is currently on display in London’s West End.
And here are some of his paintings – described by the gallery showcasing them as ‘the sickly sweet dreams and nightmares of an alternative version of our media-saturated, celebrity-obsessed world, made by someone who actually inhabits that world’.
And indeed, many of them feature familiar faces, such as Bruce Forsyth, Phillip Schofield and Ken Livingston.
Hill has said of his hobby: ‘I've been painting for about 20 years. I'm a hobbyist artist in the strictest sense. I find it relaxing, pushing all the colours around and turning the blobs into images, some more successfully than others. It's just a really nice thing to do. I would recommend anyone to take up painting.’
The gallery – Maison Bertaux in Soho’s Greek Street – adds that his work is ‘breaking all the rules of taste, decency and intellectual credibility’.
The free exhibition runs there until March 28. Details
