GB News reveals line-up of comedians for its newspaper preview show
GB News has signed up a regular roster of 13 comedians to appear on its late-night newspaper preview show Headliners.
The ‘anti-woke’ channel has given the hour-long show green light as a seven-night offering after an initial launch last month.
Its executive producer is comic and writer Andrew Doyle, the creator of spoof social justice warrior Titania McGrath who also hosts his own programme on GB News, Free Speech Nation.
Headliners has three alternating hosts: Mark Dolan, Simon Evans and Dominic Frisby.
And now confirmed as the rotating panel of comedians offering comments on the next day’s headlines are: Steve N Allen, Rhona Cameron, Nick Dixon, Andrew Doyle, Josh Howie, Leo Kearse, Sajeela Kershi, Erich McElroy, Diane Spencer and Ian Stone.
Doyle said that although the show is populated by comedians, it was not designed to make fun of important news events.
‘The difference with comedians is we tend to look at the world through a different lens,’ he said. ‘We don’t see everything as a joke or a gag, but we do look at things sideways so we often spot the irony, the paradoxes and even the absurdity of serious things."
‘Comedians are well informed on politics and current affairs – it’s the source of a lot of our material - but critically, we’re not journalists commenting on journalism.
‘This is the key to making Headliners a fast-paced and witty riff on the traditional paper preview format.
‘We piloted the show with a handful of us before Christmas and like any good party it’s just grown from there,. We all enjoy each other’s company, and we all love a bit of raucous and warm-hearted debate. Above all, it’s a great way to catch up on tomorrow’s top stories while having a lot of fun."
Headliners is on GB News at 11pm every night. Here's a clip from yesterday's show:
