The worst misprint in newspaper history, revisted

It is surely the worst printing disaster in local newspaper history ... and now comedy writer Michael Spicer performs it as a spoken word piece.

An article entitled The Memories Live On was first printed in the Peterborough Standard in 1979 but was completely garbled in the production process.

The extraordinary piece, about a silver jubilee committee, repeats itself, jumbles half-words and eventually morphs into a football report.

It was brought to a wider audience by Private Eye at the time, and is legendary among production journalists. Here is Spicer's rendition:
