Comic threatened with legal action over text prank

James Veitch got threatened with legal action – after he wound up a tenant who sent him a text message by mistake.

The comic got a 'wrong number' SMS from a man called Andrew who believed he was the responsible for maintenance on his flat, and decided to play a practical joke in response.

Veitch, who has built a reputation for winding up email spammers, ended up suggesting some drastic building work at the property, just to deal with a towel rail that got too hot. His texts proved so convincing that Andrew threatened to call his lawyers if Veitch did what he proposed.

The comedian explained the prank at the Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Here's the set:
