Reginald D Hunter: Pride And Prejudice And Niggas Show type: Edinburgh Fringe 2006
Reginald D Hunter: Pride And Prejudice And Niggas

A brilliant show - at the end of the second week he is more playful in mood, adding and subtracting from topics covered in other reviews at will On a night pissing with rain he does a nice couple of minutes on how easy it is to smile and laugh when everything is rosy. The stuff on his room mates kid or 'the little motherfucker' is great. He skewers Brits at partys wanting to dicsuss the only other black person they know perfectly - every time coming back to telling the truth. Only the same fat ass /I'm black gag isn't top quality - and thats only because every black comedian does it and thinks its original. Well worth 4 starswas only okay. There was nothing wrong with the humour or delivery. For me the most appealing part of his act is his sense of bewilderment. He tells stories with lots of dark humour that seem incredulous but some were true.It was the first time I had seen his act and certainly he was popular with the full house audience

You can't help but get the feeling from Reg D Hunter that he puts more effort into his comedy than he does into his relationships. He moves seamlessly from topic-to-topic in a fashion that suggests a certain weariness with the world and a confusion with the way in which the people around him behave. But for all his musings on the people and things around him, there's nothing supercilious about his sharp observations, indeed they are frequently hilarious. He has the ability to make you feel you really know him at the end of his hour, and regardless of whether you do or not, that's a true talent indeed.

Craig McQueen, August 2006
