I felt the material was superb, but the audience more interested in talking among themselves, or indulging in brain-dead, football chat. He could have dealt better with the idiots in the crowd, but I thought it as a good show, marred by the surroundings.

This review is really unfair. James Inman is a brilliant brilliant comic. A lot of his best material satirizes some very specific elements of American culture and some of it won't translate easily to UK audiences. This was his first show in the UK, as the reviewer 'generously' pointed out, therefore he needs to find his feet over here and see what will work. I went to the show and he didn't do anything like his best material, but he was still in the top three shows that i saw (I saw 53 comics).
