Original Review:

Show Rating:Hollywood Scotch rated 2/5

The opulent venue and the scotch offered on arrival set the scene for a slick and big-budgeted production. But that's a long way from what was actually served up.

Instead, this patchy selection of sketches about the desperate gang of wannabes and out-of-work actors trying to make it in Hollywood fell a long way short of expectations.

The cast were by no means untalented, and showed themselves to be a collection of versatile, well-trained thesps, but the material lacked imagination; pretty much the best they could muster was to rework Monty Python's Four Yorkshiremen sketch to brag about whose career was the most unsuccessful.

As a whole, this 30-minute show felt like little more than an end-of-seminar showcase thrown together by the delagates.

In true Hollywood style, a triumph of image over substance, with the audience going away feeling short-changed.
