The Big Bada-Bing! The Giant Pineapple Boys
The Giant Pineapple Boys are back with their comic impressions, a live band and outrageous visuals. Sit, drink, laugh 'n' dance with celebrity hosts from The Rat Pack to David Hasselhoff. The Pineapple Party is here!
|
Original Review:
This confident troupe set the tone by emerging on to the stage naked with only a pineapple covering their modesty - and the size of their talents remains hidden throughout the show. A Woody Allen impression was capable but went on too long and was followed by an equally overextended David Hasselhoff piece that insulted the audience's imagination and intelligence. This standard of entertainment would possibly amuse a group of undemanding and extremely well-oiled 18-year-olds but nothing more. The Giant Pineapple Boys appear to believe themselves irreverent and outrageous, but are strangely staid and dull. The only cheer of the night was reserved for the denouement,a shoot-out in which all the lads died. The audience seemed to have a keener sense of irony than the Pineapples. However, thinking they were on to a good thing, the Boys repeated this act ad nauseum before releasing the audience into the welcoming alternative of the chill Edinburgh night. |
