If national stereotypes are to be believed, the only person more laid-back than an Irishman would probably be an Irishman who moved to Australia. That pretty much defines Jimeoin.

Incredibly relaxed and unhurried, his delivery could border on soporific were the material not so damn strong.

His incisively observational set focuses on the real minutiae of life, from stepping into the bath to mothers forever telling you to get off the phone.

Few comics could get away with a couple of minutes about the consequences of accidentally dropping various items of fruit and veg onto a sloped surface - but Jimeoin (pronounced Jim Owen, in case you were wondering) does so easily.

He's also the finest exponent of eyebrow comedy, extracting a wealth of laughs just from repositioning his facial furniture in a typically delightful and original routine.

This assured stand-up also analyses the mechanics of his jokes and his performance, from the way the gags are received right down to telling us of the bead of sweat running down his arse crack.

"I don't really have anything to talk about," Jimeoin announces at the head of the show. "Don't be expecting any message, and don't be expecting me to finish any stories."

And it truly is a show about nothing - so don't go expecting any comedic fireworks - but rarely has nothing been so enjoyable.

This is a quietly seductive slice of easy-going whimsy that provides the perfect antidote to the noise and bustle elsewhere on the fringe.
