Jeff Green

Show Rating:Jeff Green rated 3/5

Green's traditional and dependable approach to stand-up never lets him, or his fans, down - a comfortable format for tried and tested material.

He covers the usual topics of relationships, sleeping positions and acrimonious holidays, gently coaxing the audience into familiar realms.

Then we move smoothly on to schoolday nostalgia, parental difficulties and DIY stores, the usual safe and suburban stuff providing a string of mildly amusing observations.

Green even managed to stretch one gag, albeit in different guises, to its maximum capacity, and it certainly started to feel a bit laboured.

As a seasoned comedian, Green seems to rely a little too much on past triumphs, sometimes appearing bored with his own material.

Perhaps talking about your life and experiences relentlessly can become somewhat unwelcomingly cathartic when you have been doing it as long as he has.

That said, Green is as charming as ever, and still possesses a youthful mischievousness. If only it could be used to better effect.
