Alan Carr: Me 'ead's Spinnin' Show type: Edinburgh Fringe 2002
Alan Carr: Me 'ead's Spinnin'

Show Rating:Alan Carr: Me 'ead's Spinnin' rated 2/5

Despite this being Alan's first show at Edinburgh he displayed the confidence and ebullience of a seasoned campaigner.

This is a man who loves to put on a show. He was warm, amicable and outrageously camp, flouncing around the stage like a whirling dervish with weapon sheathed of course.

Alan has a terrific talent for comedy and laughs unaffectedly at his own jokes. He relies on his mirthful and affectionate observations to entertain the audience who respond positively to the cosy ambience he generates.

The room was extremely hot, but Alan maintained his energetic style and managed to retain the audience's attention and interest throughout his set - which was no small achievement.

He performed a witty, eerie story that had the audience basking in its creepy glow. However, despite his genial charm, the quality of his humour was not as high as it might have been and the audience were more taken with his winning personality than any other aspect of his act.

Carr's persona certainly provides him with the basis for a successful act, but he still needs to develop his material.
