Show Rating:The Stand In rated 3/5

This mime show charts the tribulations of a rather daft character called Phillip as he is assigned to various jobs - each, naturally enough, ending in disaster.

Little is claimed for this show, which proudly boasts that it is "as subtle as a brick and with absolutely no message" - and that's pretty much what you get.

It was all tightly performed, and Lee Dempsey proved himself adept at this broad brand of dialogue-free visual comedy.

But there was something all-too familiar with the show, with the similarities to Some Mothers do Ave Em and the mannerisms of Frank Spencer just a bit too obvious.
