Original Review:
The sweethearts of Saturday morning telly make a leap into grown-up comedy with this show, if you believe their hype. But really this pun-laden pantomime-style mugging is the same old act - just with a bit of swearing (and a prostethic penis) thrown in. And while this sort of spirited malarkey may be diverting enough for a show aimed at kids, it all seems a little on the slight side for the adult world. The premise is that the lads use the power of black magic (cue predictable chocolate gag) to summon up evil characters from the past, thus giving them the chance to raid the fancy-dress box and arse around a bit. And if you're not a fan, this silly behaviour, which isn't a tenth as amusing as they think it is, can become pretty wearing, pretty quickly. The jokes are the weakest you've seen this side of a Christmas cracker, with puns which even the Chuckle Brothers would reject as too corny. ("Go to hell." "Go to Hull?" or "It was 1459 - or just before 3pm" being the typical standard.) If this is an adult show, then why is it so juvenile? But you can't help but admire the pair's spirit - and the hilarious Rasputin get-up at the end is worth two stars on its own, making a grand total of, err two stars. |

Some people don't get the flawless delivery of these two guys. Their loss - comedy is not apparently for everybody. For my generation, you can't better Trev (always Trevor to me!) and Simon. Don't let the sophisticates ut you off - you may never laugh as much June, July 2005 |

I saw this last night and it's utterly fantastic. Unique, refreshing and hilarious. If you liked Trev & Simon on Going Live then you will love this, but it is good enough for a new audience as well. Go along and see. Alan Basham, March 2002 |

I thought it was very well done and, I have to say, much better than I thought it would be. Seven out of 10 for performance, 10 out of 10 for effort! Rob Forbes, February 2002 |
