Show Rating:The Giant Pineapple Boys Present Hollywoodn't rated 2/5

Every lazy impressionist works on the premise that it is hugely amusing to consider a well-known figure doing something unusual. You know the sort of thing: "Imagine if Frank Spencer was an airline pilot. I think it would go something like this"

Well for sheer unimaginative set-ups, the Giant Pineapple Boys take some beating. This is Hollywood stars - wait for it - making a gay porn film!!!!!!

I'll just give you a paragraph to get your breath back after laughing so much at the sheer wackiness of the idea.

And this interminable sketch is as dreadfully unexceptional as you would imagine. Only quite a lot longer.

About half the show is filled with this recurring, laugh-free nightmare. And it's a real shame, because they started so well.

A silly parody of a James Bond movie opening - from the studio idents to the stunt-filled first scene - captured the unquenchable spirit of these vivacious performers, and got a fair amount of laughs from the sheer stupidity of it all.

But it was downhill from there as they re-enacted scenes from Star Wars (how topical, and done much better by Adam and Joe and their stuffed toys) and other such nonsense.

These lads have the verve and energy to become great comic performers. But they are going to need something a lot better than this derivative, fifth-rate material to get there.
