Obadaiah Steppenwolf III Show type: Edinburgh Fringe 2001
Obadaiah Steppenwolf III

Show Rating:Obadaiah Steppenwolf III rated 2/5

This formidable character decked out in mirrored sunglasses and full mullet claims to represent all that is good and pure in the hearts of god-fearing folk from the deepest of the Deep South.

He preaches his show and purports to be a pious religious man, a mask which soon slips as he recounts tales of family life back home.

Obadiah is pretty much the epitome of every stereotypical racist, bigot, sexist, 'burn in hell, nonbeliever' character you have ever seen.

There were some cracking one-liners and toe-curling observations, but after 30 minutes it felt like there was no place left to go.

The character needed to explore other avenues, rather than continue to rake over the same old ground, which a small cluster of the audience found laugh-out-loud funny, while the rest could muster only the odd titter.
