Approached with the right frame of mind, this is an enjoyable, if inconsequential, piece of exuberant stuff and nonsense.

The premise is that an inept band of thieves is plotting to steal the legendary Polowski diamond. OK, so you could have guessed that from the title. But the twist is that the audience is that gang.

However, this really needs a decent-sized crowd to generate the energy and atmosphere which would make it work - and the slim numbers on this particular night were not enough to dispel distinctly self-conscious feelings. Even though the level of audience participation needed here isn't great, it is essential that punters are able to relax into feeling a little more involved.

As the silly and surreal plot to seize the booty is unveiled, a veritable gallery of rogues is paraded before us.

The two protagonists here demonstrate a certain comic gift for over-the-top characterisation, and their larger-than-life performances are near faultless.

However, these talents absolutely necessary to drive the distinctly patchy script, which is noticeably thin on gags.

And one tip, lads. If you want punters to will wear the masks you've supplied, at least make sure they are at least free of the sweat of last night's crowd. Most unpleasant.
