Show Rating:Boothby Graffoe: Midnight rated 3/5

If you want to end your festival day with something a little more relaxing than the Late n Live bearpit, then this laid-back entertainment could be for you.

It's similar to the show Boothby Graffoe has performed before on the Fringe - quality, laconic stand-up mixed with some fantastic music, courtesy of Italian guitar maestro Antonio Forcione.

The Assembly Rooms' Edinburgh Suite makes an enticingly intimate surrounding for such late-night cabaret, too.

But every one of Graffoe's fabulous lines renews the yearning for a solo stand-up show from this talented and effortlessly funny comic.

Again this feels like him cruising, using the musical elements for an easier life. Perhaps he can be forgiven this, for he has a play in Edinburgh this year - and with a radio show and enviable live reputation under his belt, there is little left for him to prove.

No ground is being broken here, then, but it is a delightful way to wind up another manic day on the fringe.

Boothby and Antonio were my pick of the Adelaide Festival Fringe 2002. I could have gone to see them time after time and not tire of them. I can't wait for them to come back. Humour with quality, effortlessness and integrity.
