Brevity is The Soul of Whitwell Show type: Edinburgh Fringe 2001
Brevity is The Soul of Whitwell

Show Rating:Brevity is The Soul of Whitwell rated 2/5

This Canadian comic exuded the sort of confidence needed when you play to a crowd of six - if crowd is not a somewhat overambitious term.

A relatively new comic, she went through a fairly predictable range of topics - all the usual stuff that dominates stand-up: women, work, men and it would appear that gay issues are all the rage.

Unfortunately for Dawn, the lack of a decent audience seemed to prevent her finding her feet, and her confidence ebbed away as the show went on.

She also had to refer to her 'guiding light', ie a set of notes pinned to the back of a chair, on various occasions, which resulted in awkward pauses and a stilted delivery.
